Talk to Us
The best articles on Black Winter Day often started as a reader's email. Maybe you tried one of our guides and it worked brilliantly, or maybe a step made no sense at all. Either way, we want to hear it.
Write to us at desk@blackwinterday.org, or use the form on this page. The form does not send anything by itself; it opens your own email app with your message ready, so you can check it before pressing send.
What we love to receive
- Story ideas. A film you think deserves more love, a game your group cannot stop playing, a garden puzzle you want solved.
- Corrections. A wrong detail, a broken link or advice that has gone out of date.
- Your own results. Did our vegetable garden guide bring you a first harvest? Did a playlist save a dinner party? Tell us.
- Questions. If something is unclear, others probably wonder the same thing.
Things we cannot do
We are a small magazine run by enthusiasts, so a few requests fall outside what we can help with:
- We cannot troubleshoot your TV box, account or subscription with any provider. Their own support teams are the right place for that.
- We cannot give personal medical, legal or financial advice.
- We cannot recommend a specific tradesperson in your area.
- We do not help anyone reach films, shows or sport through unlicensed sources.
Writing for us
We occasionally publish pieces by friends of the magazine who know a hobby well. If you would like to pitch, send a short outline of the idea and why it suits our readers. Please do not send finished articles straight away, and know that we edit every piece to fit our tone and standards.
Business enquiries
If you represent a company and would like your product mentioned, read How We Choose What We Recommend first. It explains what we will and will not do.
When to expect a reply
A real person reads every message, usually within a few days. Busy weeks can stretch that a little. If your note is a correction, we will fix the article first and reply afterwards.
Before you write, it may be worth checking Quick Answers, where we have gathered the questions we hear most often.
What you send stays with us and is used only to reply. You can read more in Your Privacy.

Questions people ask the desk
Short answers to the notes that land in our inbox most often.
How quickly will someone reply?
A person reads every message, usually within a few days. Corrections are handled first.
Can you sort out my streaming account?
We have no access to any provider's systems, so account, billing and technical problems belong with their support team.
Can I suggest a film, album or game?
Please do. Tell us what it is and why it deserves a wider audience, and it may end up in a future piece.
Do you take guest articles?
Occasionally. Send a short outline first rather than a finished draft, and expect a proper edit.
Does the form store my message?
No. It only opens your own email app with the message filled in, so nothing is saved on the site.
Helpful details
How to help us reply quickly
None of these are required, but they help us reply faster and more usefully.
- The title or link of the article you are writing about.
- What you expected to find and what you found instead.
- For garden questions, roughly what climate and space you have.
- For set-up questions, which equipment you already own.
- Whether we may quote your note in a future article.
